Unpick the findings with us.
Hey JOLT-ers! How are we?
We’re starting off on a more morbid tone today - sorry but ageing can’t be all sh**s and giggles. We’re here to state the facts - no sugarcoating involved.
Forgot where you set down your keys last? Sure, that’s no big deal, but when memories, faces and names start to slip, things take a step up a notch.
Alzheimers is a progressive neurological disorder that can significantly impact memory, personality, thinking and behaviour. The illness affects over 55 MILLION people worldwide - it is predicted that this statistic will almost double every 20 years and by 2050 there could be a possible amount of 139 million individuals who will eventually be caught by this life-changing illness. That’s a lot of forgetting where the keys went.
Alzheimers is a bit different to many illnesses out there. Whilst there is no particular cause of it, there are numerous factors that are believed to be linked with a future diagnosis, such as: genetics, age, lifestyle factors such as diet, physical activities and mental stimulation.
Here’s where things get worrying. Once diagnosed, there is no treatment that can eliminate the illness from the body’s system, only medication to help things feel that bit more manageable.
We’re sure that everyone, from a young age, has been hearing comments from their elders such as “gosh you know you’re getting old when you forget…” but the harsh truth is that by the age of 65, the likelihood of developing these same phrases will double every 5 years - the same way the likelihood of you being diagnosed with Alzheimers will double every 5 years. Kind of terrifying, right?
We want to work to break the chain of these phrases being passed through generations and make sure, by contributing the right things into your body, you don’t become a statistic of an illness such as this one. This leads us nicely to why we came on here today - can NMN actually cure Alzheimers?
NMN has continuously shown promise with the prevention of Alzheimer’s, and the best news you’ll probably find in today’s blog, is that JOLT is full of it. Yes, f******g please.
Now for the science nerds out there who may be reading this, (don’t worry we have our very own science man Dan here at JOLT HQ), we are about to throw some big words your way, try not to get too aroused.
It is scientifically proven that through supplementing with NMN, this can actually work to restore NAD+ levels. NAD+ levels are often decreased for those with Alzheimers. NMN can therefore alleviate the neuronal damage and slow the progression of diseases that commonly associate with ageing. Delaying astrocyte-mediated motor neuron death and therefore improving brain mitochondrial respiratory dysfunction. (For those who understood to this point, the JOLT team have now classified you as the same nerd level as Dan. Soz)
So for the cool ones, let’s slow it down:
By supplementing NMN into your body - it can cause the cells (yep, those cells that are capable of causing ageing diseases such as Alzheimers eventually) to slooooow down. This means that the speed they can turn into nasty cells has significantly decreased. By the time they do eventually get to that stage, let’s just say… You’ll be long gone.
Again, we’re sorry for the negative energy, but this is real life for so many people, and we are big on using our platforms to spread awareness for those that may not know as well. For our usual inappropriate, silly and of course hilarious content, catch us on @joltmyworld on the gram.
Until next time!
The JOLT Team.
